We've been developing our global capture devices to enhance and upgrade the images of Edgy Eggs. Once our systems are fully operational we will be auto-enhancing each image to be ready for future use on billboards, skyscrapers, cinemas and as wallpaper...
Why can't you just export high res from the start?
Rendering the assets for 10,000 NFTs takes a set amount of time. The lower the quality and lower the resolution the faster the export. Finding a balance here is the most efficient use of our artist's time. High-quality textures, with fixed 1000x1000 px exports, are plenty for profile pictures, filling the screen on phones and will be full screen on the average desktop even.
With a variety of texture detail assets, the higher resolution you go, the more noticeable variations between textures will become. A guitar may be rendered in very high poly count that even at 6000 x 6000 pixels it will still surpass noticeable pixels. However, some smaller lower poly count items will result in very jarring looks when placed next to a super detailed item. Now, this only happens in fringe cases, but we are detail experts and these types of discrepancies will annoy us to not want to release the collection.
So, the solution?
Our base export will be rendered at maximum texture quality, lighting, shadows, reflections and backgrounds whilst locking the overall resolution at 1000 x 1000 px.
Enhanced versions will be the same but exported at 2000 x 2000 px, potentially 3000 if we feel a noticeable difference can be seen. After testing any textures/items that don't match will be redesigned and re-exported, this involves potentially remaking assets with higher poly counts and matching 1:1 to the original albeit at higher quality. The difficulty here comes with replacing an asset and finding it no longer matches the scene.
In special cases, we will re-render NFTs up to 6000 x 6000 provided the traits allow for use in marketing, events, for prints and giveaways and more...
